Jollibee’s Brooklyn Debut

Filipino fast-food chain Jollibee has quietly opened its first Brooklyn location at 5212 Kings Highway in East Flatbush. Despite its reputation for grand openings and long lines, the restaurant debuted without fanfare on February 2. Jollibee now has five locations in New York City, including Woodside, Jamaica, and Midtown.

Renowned Irish Chef Darina Allen Visits New York

Darina Allen, the celebrated chef behind the Ballymaloe House and Cookery School in Ireland, is visiting New York this week. From March 12 to 14, she will host events at Sailor in Fort Greene, Archestratus Books in Greenpoint, and King in Soho. Allen will discuss Irish cuisine and her latest cookbook, “The New Ballymaloe Bread Book.”

Plnt Burger Closes Union Square Outpost

Plnt Burger, the vegan burger chain founded by Top Chef star Spike Mendelsohn, has closed its Union Square location. The restaurant announced the closure on Instagram, citing the growth of its other Manhattan locations as the reason for consolidation. Plnt Burger still has restaurants in Nomad and near Bryant Park.
