Dogpatch’s Harmonic Brewing Faces Closure, Ceasing Brewing Operations This Fall – SFist

Harmonic Brewing in Dogpatch Announces Closure This Fall

In an unfortunate turn of events, Dogpatch’s Harmonic Brewing is set to hang the near proverbial ‘closed’ sign for good this fall. One of San Francisco’s most adored and respected craft breweries, Harmonic Brewing has provided a sanctuary of sorts for beer aficionados and casual pints-with-friends seekers alike over the years. Their departure from the scene will leave a void in the city’s bustling craft beer community.

Background on Harmonic Brewing

Harmonic Brewing ventured into the craft beer industry with an ambition of providing traditional style beers with a modern twist – and without a doubt, they achieved that and more. Started back in 2015 by Ed Gobbo and Jon Villy, the brewery positioned itself in the vibrant neighborhood of Dogpatch, an area of San Francisco known for its warehouses, artist studios, loft apartments, and now – unfortunately much less – high quality, local breweries.

Noteworthy Brews: A Tribute to Craftsmanship

Harmonic Brewing undoubtedly leaves behind a legacy of finely-crafted brews. Their offerings, varying from traditional Pale Ales, ESBs (Extra Special Bitters), and Kolschs, to more adventurous concoctions such as their beloved Dogpatch Sour, found home in the hearts and palates of many enthusiastic patrons around the city and beyond.

Reason Behind the Closure

Regrettably, the coming months won’t hear the familiar humming of brewing processes emanating from the Dogpatch-based brewery. Although the exact factors contributing to the closure remain undisclosed, one can only speculate that the events of the past year and a half – marked by pandemic restrictions and economic uncertainties – have undoubtedly played a role in this sad departure. But Harmonic has chosen to remain mostly quiet on the details, leaving us to ponder this loss in the city’s vibrant beer culture.

The Exit: A Farewell, Not a Goodbye

Fans of Harmonic Brewing shouldn’t despair though: the Harmonic team emphatically stated they are not leaving the industry altogether. They acknowledged the unwavering support from their patrons and insinuated this is not the end of their brewing journey. In their own words: “We’re extremely proud of what we’ve built with your help, and while Harmonic Brewing may be closing its doors, we’re not hanging up our brewing boots just yet”.

This brings both a mournful end and a hopeful outlook to the story, raising a toast to the fond past while keeping the cheers ready for the future.

A Thank You Note to Dogpatch’s Harmonic Brewing

Harmonic’s journey reminds us of the delicate balance artisans and small businesses must strike to thrive in today’s world. As we bid farewell to an exceptional craft brewery and look forward to what the future holds for the talented team, Harmonic Brewing indeed deserves a heartfelt ‘Thank you’ from the entire San Francisco community.

Thank you, Harmonic Brewing, for serving us wonderful brews with a side of passion, creativity, and undeniable charm. You will be missed, but we eagerly wait for your eventual return, possibly in a new, yet equally fascinating, guise.

  1. It’s truly sad to hear that Harmonic Brewing in Dogpath will be shutting its doors this fall. They’ve been an integral part of San Francisco’s craft beer scene for a number of years, offering innovative and high-quality brews. Their departure will definitely be felt by both their devoted patrons and the larger craft beer community in the city. Their approach to brewing, which always respected the craft while experimenting with flavors, will be deeply missed. The city’s artisanal beer scene won’t be the same.
