Capital Region Breweries Shine in Prestigious Competition

The eighth annual New York State Craft Beer Competition celebrated the exceptional brewing talents of the Empire State on March 22 at the Albany Capital Center. Ninety-six coveted awards were bestowed upon deserving breweries, with Capital Region establishments showcasing their mastery in various categories.

“NYS Governor’s Craft Beer Cup” Honors Kingston Standard Brewing Co.

The prestigious “NYS Governor’s Craft Beer Cup,” reserved for the best-in-show beer, was awarded to Kingston Standard Brewing Co. for their exceptional Love is Overtaking Me, a Barrel Aged (Sour) delight.

Capital Region breweries triumphed across multiple style categories:

Gold Medals

  • Druthers Brewing Company: Dark Encounter (Dark Lagers)
  • Artisanal Brew Works: Trappist at the Track Belgian Tripel (Belgian Other)
  • Wayward Lane Brewing: Shadowtricks (Experimental)

Silver Medals

  • Active Ingredient Brewing Company: Freudian Sips (Golden & Blonde Ales)
  • Fidens Brewing Company: Jasper (Hazy DIPA)
  • Druthers Brewing Company: Lavel Up (Specialty Beer: Light & Amber Ales, Lagers)
  • Wayward Lane Brewing: Portmanteau (Porters (Non-Imperial))

Bronze Medals
