Sazerac Appoints New CEO Following Mark Brown’s Departure

Sazerac CEO Mark Brown to Step Down, Replacement Named

Who is Mark Brown?

For those who aren’t familiar with the name, Mark Brown is the CEO of Sazerac, a New Orleans-based company that is one of the largest producers of distilled spirits in the world. Under Brown’s leadership, Sazerac has enjoyed significant growth over the years, expanding its portfolio of brands and entering new markets around the globe.

Why is Mark Brown stepping down?

According to a recent announcement from Sazerac, Mark Brown will be stepping down as CEO of the company in January of 2022. Brown has been with the company for over 20 years, and in that time, he has helped to build Sazerac it into the powerhouse that it is today. So why is he leaving, you might ask? Well, according to Brown himself, he is ready to retire and spend more time with his family.

Who will replace Mark Brown?

While Brown’s departure is certainly significant news, the good news for Sazerac is that they already have a replacement lined up. Taking over the reins from Brown will be Matt Shattock, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the company. Shattock is no stranger to the spirits industry, having previously served as the CEO of Beam Inc. and then as the Chairman and CEO of the British-based company, Dechra Pharmaceuticals.

What does this mean for Sazerac?

While any major leadership change can be cause for concern, it seems unlikely that Sazerac will suffer greatly from Brown’s departure. Shattock is a seasoned executive with a wealth of experience in the spirits industry, and he has been involved with Sazerac for several years already as the Chairman of the Board. Additionally, Brown has been working closely with Shattock to ensure a smooth transition, so it seems likely that Sazerac will continue to thrive under its new leadership.

Final thoughts

All in all, while Mark Brown’s departure is certainly significant news, it doesn’t seem like it will have any major negative impact on Sazerac. With Matt Shattock taking over as CEO, the company should be able to continue its impressive growth trajectory and expand into new markets around the world. And while we’ll certainly miss Brown’s leadership, we wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement. So, it’s good luck to both the legends and a welcome to the new CEO.
