SunRift turns five: A milestone celebration for the Flathead Beacon

The Beginnings of SunRift

Five years ago, a group of friends in Flathead Valley had an idea. They wanted to create a community hub where people could gather for good food, great beer, and live music. And so, SunRift was born.

The name SunRift was inspired by two things: the local Flathead Valley landscape, and the idea of a welcoming sun. The Flathead River rifts run through the valley, and the bright sun shining through them seemed like the perfect metaphor for the warm, friendly atmosphere they wanted to create.

They found a perfect location in downtown Kalispell, and started building the space with their own hands. With reclaimed wood, exposed brick, and Edison bulbs, they created a rustic yet industrial atmosphere that fit perfectly into the surrounding landscape.

Supporting the Local Community

From the beginning, SunRift has been committed to supporting the local community. They source their ingredients from local farmers and ranchers whenever possible, and have formed a close-knit community of regulars who share a love of good food and drink.

They also host regular events that celebrate local artists, musicians, and nonprofits. From live music on the patio during summer evenings, to fundraisers for local charities, SunRift has become a beloved gathering place for the community.

Award-Winning Beer

One of the biggest draws of SunRift is their award-winning craft beer. Their head brewer, who has been with the company since the beginning, has created a range of brews that appeal to every palate – from crisp IPAs to rich stouts.

In just five short years, SunRift’s beer has won numerous awards, including gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.

Looking to the Future

As SunRift celebrates their fifth anniversary, they’re looking to the future with excitement and anticipation. They’re planning even more community events, expanding their menu with new dishes that highlight local ingredients, and continuing to experiment with new beer recipes.

But they’re also staying true to their original vision: a community gathering place where friends and strangers alike can come together to share good food, great beer, and memorable experiences. And that’s something that will never change.

Congratulations, SunRift, on five amazing years. Here’s to many more!
