Carolina Brewery (Brewery and American Restaurant)

Location and Atmosphere

Located in Downtown Chapel Hill, Carolina Brewery is a vibrant and lively spot that stands as the Triangle’s oldest brewery. This joint is renowned for its great microbrews, right in the heart of the town. The bartender is described as cute and service is rated as friendly.

Drink Selection

Highlight of the menu seems to be their multiple award-winning Flagship IPA and Copperline Amber Ale. Other visitor favourites include the delicious Oatmeal Porter and the Black IPA. For $3 pint on Tuesday nights, guests can enjoy the first five brews listed, however, a insider tip warns these aren’t their best offerings. For those wanting to try a variety, the sampler is praised for being affordable, delicious and stylishly presented.

Food

On the food front, recommendations range from the traditional-but-tasty Cobb Salad with buttermilk chicken tenders on top, to the spicy hot wings. For vegetarians and carnivores alike, the veggie burger and sweet potato fries are highly recommended. The autumn vegan burger is also a hit. Visitors should also keep an eye out for half-priced apps during “happy hour” from 4-6.

Room for Improvement

Despite all the buzz, some visitors felt that Carolina Brewery could use some improvements. One visitor was disappointed to see they were making the same beers/recipes as they had 20 years ago. Another criticism was on the TV placements in the restaurant being suboptimal for viewing. Even though the beer is rated as good, one of the visitors thought the food to be just fine bar food, not special.

Conclusion

All in all, Carolina Brewery seems to offer a pleasing environment with solid food and beers. Given its popularity, sampling the drinks and dishes at this classic Brewery and American Restaurant could make for a memorable outing.
