  • 1lb ground bison
  • 1 can of corn
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1-2 medium carrots, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup of peas
  • 1/4 cup of tomato paste
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 can of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp of dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp of dried rosemary
  • 3-4 large potatoes
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of stout beer
  • 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small chunks. Boil them until they’re tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes and add the milk and butter. Mash the potatoes until they’re smooth and creamy.
  4. While the potatoes are boiling, cook the bison in a large skillet over medium heat. Break it up into chunks as it cooks.
  5. Add the onions, garlic, and carrots to the skillet and cook until they’re tender, about 10-12 minutes.
  6. Add the corn, peas, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, mushrooms, thyme, and rosemary. Mix well and simmer for 15 minutes.
  7. Turn off the heat and add the stout beer to the skillet. Stir well.
  8. Pour the bison mixture into a large baking dish.
  9. Spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the bison mixture.
  10. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the mashed potatoes.
  11. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious bison shepherd’s pie with stout beer!
